Hotels Exeter

Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel

Southernhay E, Exeter EX1 1QF, UK – 01392 412812

I booked the Mercury Exeter for my birthday, we have never stayed in this chain of hotels before. The hotel is in the heart of Exeter and the cathedral, shops, bars and restaurants are all a short walk away, the hotel has good parking. There's a pool, and also a gym at the hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they are very professional. The hotel is very well maintained and our room was lovely. We stayed in a double plus room so we had extras like a coffee machine, hospitality tray, a daily newspaper, free WiFi, toiletries and robes and slippers to wear throughout our stay, the bed was very comfortable. We ate in the hotels restaurant at breakfast where there's a vast array of lovely food and we also had an evening meal which was delicious. We had a snack in the hotels bar which was also very tasty. I'd definitely go back and I would thoroughly recommend this hotel as we had such a lovely stay.

Stayed here with my son on a business trip. We enjoyed the pool and spa, very relaxing of an evening or a refreshing morning swim before breakfast. The food was beyond amazing, presented well, and mouth-wateringly good, also a good range of foods, lots of different types of countries. Breakfast, was a buffet, a nice range of pastries, cereals etc, and hot buffet, including sausages, hash browns, bacon, standard English breakfast style, all cooked to perfection. Would definitely recommend, if staying in Devon, friendly, helpful staff, near a shopping district. Would stay here again.

Jurys Inn Exeter Hotel

Western Way, Exeter EX1 2DB, UK – 01392 312400

I stay one day a fortnight. Every fortnight. Jury's are consistent. Beds are comfortable. Staff are lovely. And price is right.

Staff are brilliant happy to help with anything and very knowledgeable about the area pointing places of interest out

Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel

Queen St, Exeter EX4 3SP, UK – 0871 376 9018

The hotel was in a good area and opposite the train station making for easy arrival and departure. It was good value for money but could do with the windows being able to be opened a bit wider as the room got quite warm in the period we were there (summer). Also a double room but bath and shower gels were provided for just one person.

Great location and we were offered a joint room for our family booking which was super spacious! A bit noisy due to the central location but it was expected on a bank holiday weekend. Breakfast was also sufficient.

Booking.com offers competitive rates for any type of hotel, from small independent hotels to a five star luxury ones. The site is available in 24 languages and offers over 71000 hotels in 71 countries. Could be useful for you. There are of course several such sites.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Exeter Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Mill on the Exe

Bonhay Rd, Exeter EX4 3AB, UK – 01392 214464

Very highly trained staff, however, are not prepared to receive a large number of guests. 30 minutes waiting for a typical hamburger is a small shock. The very beautiful surroundings of the area plus fresh water air work well on the body after eating. I was served with a mayonnaise book but it was empty, unfortunately the staff probably does not have time to tell if they have what they need for a meal. The art was given in a dirty bucket. I wish staff all all of the best to provide more qualification at work.

Haven't been for a few years. Was quiet at there was an England match due to start, but there was a long wait to order as there weren't enough staff on. Food was slow to arrive, but was OK if nothing special given the price. There are plenty of tables outside right by the river so ideal for a quick pint after work in Summer, otherwise there are plenty of better options

The Oddfellows

60 New N Rd, Exeter EX4 4EP, UK – 01392 209050

A great place. This is my after work pub; central location, small but good selection of ales and cider (Devon Red on tap) and really friendly and pleasant bar folk. Plently of space at the back (unless folks eating - which is normally after 8) - small but fine smoking area. Drink prices wee bit better than Exeter average. Have only had food a couple of times - but has been excellent. Only niggle of late is change to opening hours - needs to go back to 17:00hrs every afternoon! But - a great, chilled and relaxing place!

A friendly bar with gastropub aspirations. The chefs working in the kitchen are visible from the dining area. There's a cocktail "speakeasy" upstairs, and regular events, such as open mic, pub quiz and live music.

The Seven Stars Hotel

Alphington Rd, Exeter EX2 8JB, UK – 01392 250983

Went here Wednesday with my girlfriend for lunch. We both had the Beef and Red wine lasagna chips and garlic bread. It was very very nice and you could really taste the red wine in the sauce of the lasagna. Then for pudding I had raspberry Eton mess sundae and my girlfriend had the chocolate bomb which looked absolutely amazing. Overall was very satisfied with our visit. Very friendly staff great food and drink and at a decent price.

Excellent place for lunch, as we do. Friendly helpful staff, guest craft beers changing regularly and very good food served with a smile. Chain pub but if you use their app, loads of discounts make it a financial pleasure too.
